Well, it's actually a Le Creuset pan with a fine bream in it awaiting its destiny.

So, although the pan could be called a kettle in this context, the situation is not "a fine kettle of fish" (an awkward situation), but a different kettle of fish altogether: it's the ultimate stage of an excellent supper!
