Summer Days in the Fens - Day 3!
Denver Sluice, River Great Ouse
With M back at work again this morning, I walked down to the village high street to pick up a few bits and pieces; an overcast muggy morning, with temperatures rising to 25°C.
Then this afternoon, we went for a drive in M’s 1934 Austin Seven (extra no 1), another vintage vehicle that he rebuilt and restored from scratch. We bounced our way along Ten Mile Bank (extra no 2) to Denver Sluice, only to discover that the riverside pub didn’t open until the evening. So on to a second pub, passing Denver Windmill (extra no 3), only to discover that we were too early there as well! At this point it started to rain, luckily only a brief shower, so we headed home, knowing that the village riverside pub was definitely open, and thankfully it was! The journey may not have gone quite to plan, but it was a lovely drive across the Fens, with the wind in my hair...
(Thank you for your kind comments and stars for yesterday’s blip, sorry for my lack of comments. No WiFi whatsoever on Friday so backblipping this from.... on ......)
Yesterday’s update: a lovely balmy evening, so another walk around the village. No lost puppies this time, but instead distant views across the fields of Ely Cathedral (have added an extra to yesterday’s journal just for my memory book).
