Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2012 Sunday — The Moon, the Man, and the Morning

Before I was awake this morning, Mr. Fun lifted my camera from the nightstand next to my bed where I was sound sleeping. When he woke me with a fresh French-press of hot chocolate coffee, he announced that he already had my blip for the day taken care of. Gosh, what a relief. Now if I could just get him to pay the bills, feed the dogs, pick-up their poop, and grade all the student papers I seem to keep bringing home! Actually he does the dishes every night and does almost all of the laundry here. And he makes the fun!

I think my man did a terrific job of capturing the moon this morning.

I've never been much good at moon photos. Maybe that is because when I was a little girl I was afraid of the moon. That's a little weird, isn't it. I think as a little girl, I thought the moon was watching me, and because I've always been fairly quiet, I probably never expressed to my parents that I was afraid of the moon, so they never had the opportunity to talk me through those crazy feelings.

So with the big job of the day taken care of -- blip photo secured -- I cleaned-up much of the mess I've made the past few days weeks grading student essays. I'm not sure that I can even express the freedom I feel not having one student essay to grade at this moment. When I finished reading and scoring the last one late last evening, I wanted to celebrate.

When Mr. Fun got sucked into the TV this afternoon watching auto races, I took the opportunity to head upstairs to work in our home office, to pay bills, to throw out all the election brochures I had kept to help us mark our ballot; and to just tidy-up.

So with all bills paid and all student papers graded, I almost feel like a lady of leisure. I haven't felt this much relief in a long time. AND . . .

AND . . . birthday week has arrived! I love birthdays, especially my own. This Saturday, the 17th, is going to be a fabulous day. Actually every day of November is terrific. We'll be leaving mid-day on Thursday for the Central Coast. We have an appointment with the ocean for a birthday celebration. I've been looking forward to this since August when we left the Central Coast. A lot has changed since then; I haven't told any of it in my Blip, but it is all very exciting.

Well, it is now dinner time and the man who took the picture of the moon this morning is downstairs wrapping-up an afternoon with televised auto races, so I'm going to go see if the two of us can conjure-up some dinner on this Sunday evening and spend the remainder of this day celebrating.

Good night from Southern California.
