A Day (or several) to Treasure!
Those of you who follow Bom will already have seen that M and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows ceremony https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2468904292707207965
We chose the North Norfolk Railway as we have many happy memories of travelling on their trains over the years, some while on holiday here and many since we moved to North Norfolk. The staff and volunteers are always so friendly and welcoming and as, the railway was running a lunchtime dining train on our actually anniversary it seemed the perfect solution.
Patrick, who carried out the ceremony for us, is also a railway volunteer (who used to be a church minister) and did an excellent job. I have added a photo of us with him in extras. He is wearing the same waistcoat that he was married in 51 years ago! He is such a lovely man, after the service he stayed and chatted with us until the train left, even though there was a delay when one of the engines broke down.
The ceremony was beautiful, he helped us with the wording for the vow renewals and chose and read a Native American poem which I have reproduced below. Dear friends B, also M and M joined us for the day and also read poems. It was romantic, emotional and very special to M and I.
The other extra includes the engine that pulled us. Due to the tinder-dry conditions and the recent fire in a field next to the railway line, all the steam engines have been stopped for now and diesels used instead to eliminate the risk of a spark starting a fire.
We had champagne, the meal was delicious and we enjoyed extended days of celebrations with our friends M and M who came to stay for a few days…that’s why I’m late with my blip.
Last, and by no means least, a special thank you to B for taking such excellent photos, in somewhat difficult lighting conditions, the sun was very bright, and it was also extremely hot!
May the sun bring you new happiness by day;
May the moon softly restore you by night;
May the rain wash away your worries
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And all the days of your life
May you walk gently through the world and know its
beauty.
Then you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be warmth for the other.
And there will be no more loneliness.
