Running up to Skiddaw
Son M had invited a couple of friends, Jacob and Beth to stay for two nights to "rest" before a World Mountain Running (uphill) trial race . The runners started in Keswick, ran up and round Latrigg, then on up to the top of Skiddaw. Just in case you are about to congratulate me for climbing up Latrigg to take the photos I will explain that you can drive up and I did, with son R who then ran from the carpark to the top of Skiddaw carrying water for his brother (who decided to do the race just for fun) and Beth to drink at the Finish. They were very grateful. About 10km with 1100m of climb. It turned out the two house guests were celebrities. Jacob won the men's race in 52 mins and Beth was 3rd in the women's race in 66 mins. Here M (in the brown top of the Hunter's Bog Trotters) is nearly at the top of Latrigg with Beth (green stripe) close behind and the girl in yellow behind who beat Beth and came in 1st lady.
