Mahonia

I came home rather late last night and noticed a heady waft from the front garden. Investigating this morning I found that the flowers from the mahonia have arrived earlier than usual this year. I'm pretty sure it's because I had given this plant its marching orders when I was clearing round the base in the spring and got fed up with it's prickly leaves.
Not for the first time the Head Gardener chose to ignore me, this time I'm quite thankful.
