Vitznau

Opted for public transport today and travelled by bus to Vitznau ..... just a few miles further round the lakeside. It was very quiet when we arrived but we didn't have to wait too long for one of the ferries to arrive and what looked like hundreds of disembarked to catch the train up the Rigi.

Europe's oldest mountain railway has been carrying passengers up from Vitznau to Mt Rigi since 1871. Some of the engines and carriages have been lovingly and expertly restored. A steam engine, combined with vintage carriages make the trip up to the "Queen of the Mountains".

That trip is on our itenary for tomorrow .... weather permitting.
