Striking architecture

I was struck by the architecture of Christ Church at Hatherden, a few miles north of Andover, Hampshire.

If not unusual in style it is in complete contrast to the many historic churches I have visited just recently in search of fresh Blipfotos, and certainly makes a lasting impression.

Although over the years I have spent frequent time in Andover and at one time looked after a website for an Italian restaurant in the town, this was my first visit to the village of Hatherden. The purpose — to attend a memorial service at the church for a one-time boss, and which provided an unrivalled opportunity to meet up with a few former-colleagues who I have not seen for many years, albeit a sad occasion for us all.

I subsequently learned that the church is quite modern and has been completely restored after the original church was hit by lightning and largely destroyed by fire subsequent fire in the 1970s.
