Osborne House Woodland Volunteers
This fine body of men is part of the woodland conservation volunteers gang at Osborne House.
We meet once a week to help with the management of the extensive woodlands originally planted by Prince Albert.
During the Summer we coppice and clear areas of the woods with the aim of returning the area to it's Victorian glory.
After the useful cut timber has been sorted and stored for future use the remainder is stacked into bonfires to be burnt during the Winter period. The fires are very welcome when we are working here in very cold spells. Just visible on the left is a most important small fire used to cook the baked potatoes.
