Beefsteak fungus

The mushroom season is warming up nicely.  This prime specimen from a traditional beefsteak fungus tree: an old oak. Usually sprouting low down between the buttress roots.

Looking like steak, even oozing ' blood', it tastes unexpectedly fruity.
