Mussel

Today's the day ………………………. to beachcomb

Rather a damp day here today - as it can be quite often in the western isles.

But there's always interesting things to find on the beach, whatever the weather is doing.  This was a big mussel shell that had obviously been around for a while - long enough for other sea creatures to attach themselves and hitch a ride.

I left it where I found though - because I have been caught out before by taking beachcombing finds back to the car and then forgetting all about them.  There was a beautiful cockle shell in the glove compartment for quite a while - slowly decomposing.  Eventually, the smell was too much for Will who did a thorough investigation of the car and found the culprit.

Took me a while to live that one down …………………………..
