When is a door not (just) a door...?
…when it’s a work of art!
M and I had collated a list of purchases which could only be made in Norwich, mostly as they consisted of items that are best bought from M&S. So, we took ourselves off to Norwich for the day. After a restorative coffee we had a relaxed, contented day browsing the shops, and then a very nice lunch at The Assembly House. After lunch, as we had purchased all the mundane items, we went off to ‘The Old Skating Rink’, which I’ve blipped before:

It’s one of my favourite shops, it’s partly a museum of South Asian arts and crafts and partly a shop, with the most wonderful array of textiles, furniture, clothes, jewellery and decorative items. My blip is a detail of a fabulous door which is part of the museum collection, the whole door is featured in the extra. I bought a new papier-mâché painted egg, to add to my collection, they live in a verdigris copper bowl in our en-suite, and four six-inch square decorative tiles (actually pot stands) which are glazed with vibrant orange, blue and turquoise flower motifs for the wall in our conservatory, (we wanted something that wouldn’t fade in the sunshine).
A most satisfying day, we’re very fond of the fine City of Norwich!
