Beside the Loch

A very interesting day and the weather played ball with only a little rainfall.  We all walked across our friends land and onto Flanders Moss Nature Reserve part of which she owns.  We had to follow her carefully as the route is treacherous.  It is the largest raised bog (ie no incoming water sources its all rainfall) in Great Britain and it was very interesting seeing the various moss, lichen grasses growing there.  The silver birch is trying to make inroads but they are hoping to manage that.  We all enjoyed feeling the bog bounce as we jumped lightly on it.

Then it was off to Inchmahome Priory, see extra, where we caught a ferry across the lake.  After a picnic lunch some of us went for a forest walk that passed along the edge of Loch Ard main photo.

During the evening we all enjoyed a three course , well five really, meal also cooked by there very skilled chef.  A great evening in good company with wonderful local food.
