Saturday: Iona Beach

Our original plans for today didn't quite work out as we had to wait and find out whether a plumber was going to be able to come, following yesterday's flooding of the basement.  By early afternoon, it still wasn't clearer whether he would make it so we decided to head to Iona Beach - it's only 8 miles or so from home so we were able to get back, should he call.

The plumber did come in the end after we got back home.  He was really nice and explained everything (very!) thoroughly.  There was a blockage, which he has cleared, but it seems the pipes are also damaged.  We have a shed load of bamboo in the garden and the roots have pierced the drains.  We're sorted for now but the problem could reoccur.

It's going to be expensive to fix so our landlord will have to decide what she wants to do.
