Adult Carduelis carduelis

Nothing of importance today.   I spent it quietly round home with Clickychick out all day photographing a wedding.

Lost for inspiration on blips I took through the window shots.  This one of the adult Goldfinch in the Magnolia appealed more than birds on the feeders.

Goldfinch are difficult to sex unless in the hands of an experienced ringer (which I am not).  The only method in the field is the amount of red behind the eye being greater in males than females but this isn't certain or easy.   If I was really forced to try for a decision I would go for female as what can be seen of the red doesn't seem to go behind the eye at all.
