Jersey Day Ten

Another epic day. This time in St Helier (all eight hours of it...) What fun we had, with regular pit stops and sit-downs for me, shops for JR, groovy cafes and a superb seafood lunch. Only thing missing was a double Jersey ice cream! The van in the square was SHUT! On the hottest day (23°).

The town centre is very pedestrian friendly, and I’ve never seen so many mobility scooters - it's ideal for them. Although we had a map, we went round in circles for much of the time (10,630 steps; 7.8km), but discovered places we might not have seen.

We happened upon the wee gallery of a Jersey artist whom we've long admired at A & B's house (they have a large collection of his works). His wife was there and patiently waited while we hummed and hawed over which print to buy.
We came back later (and added many many steps finding it again) to the groovy cafe next door. And who should be in the gallery then, but the artist himself. We rushed in to meet him. We were like groupies!

Lunch was fantastic. We were keen to have seafood, and we went to a restaurant near the harbour, with a roof terrace and a view over the harbour. Excellent service, beautiful food and a carefully chosen, instrumental playlist (no screeching vocals). It was perfect. And they didn’t charge the ubiquitous 'discretionary' service charge of 12.5%, which is quite annoying. So we happily left a decent tip.

One more day left of this treat-filled holiday.
