View from Yat Rock

It was a full day of walking today and we chose to do the walk along the River Wye to Symonds Yat and back to our starting point near Goodrich Castle.  The day was better weather than forecast and we had several sunny periods as we strolled along by the riverside.  We spotted Dippers, Heron, Cormorants  a Tree Creeper and disturbed a bird of prey that circled around us.  We arrived at Symonds Yat at the river side and then had a very energetic climb up to the top where this viewpoint is situated.  Here we met the others in our group ie those that had opted for the forest walk, at the cafe.  This blip was taken from here where a group of birders were looking at a Peregrine Falcon across the valley.  You can just make out a line of sheep to one side of the picture if you look closely.

We then chose a safer way to descent back to the rivers edge and had a lovely return journey via Symonds Yat East.  In all it ended up as a 12 mile walk as there were a few diversions, we made up for it later though with a good meal and drinks in the evening.
