Farewell Binns

A few iconic images today. One of the cows that peppered (!?) Edinburgh from a few years back.

Oor Willie from the Sunday Post.

And what was, when I was growing up, Binns Department store with its well known corner clock at the West End of Princes Street.

In 1976 it was taken over by House of Fraser. It was a store I went into leading up to Christmas but not really on other occasions. Like Jenners further along Princes Street you were hit by the heady scent of perfume when you walked in the door.

Now Frasers is going too. I hope the clock stays.

Time featured at work today as with the Board we looked ahead 5 years, thinking abut where the organisation could and should be; what were our priorities and what did we need to start thinking about next year if resources were available. Ably assisted by our visiting graphic artist Claire who distilled our discussions into a pictorial overview.

Much more work to do but a good start made.
