Woktek

Wojtek was a Syrian brown bear purchased, as a young cub, at a railway station in Hamadan, Iran, by Polish II Corps soldiers who had been evacuated from the Soviet Union. He served throughout the war as a fully documented soldier in the Polish army. It’s said he considered himself a human, and no one told him otherwise.

He now has his statue in Princes Street gardens. Probus today heard all about him.
