Seville Day 2
Backblip
Up early and walked through the little streets of Triana, along with all the a schoolkids and mums dropping off their kids at the school near our apartment. Temps more bearable at 9am! Around 25 degrees already so going to be another hot one.
Once you get to the Centre of the old town all the big sights are very walkable from each other. Stopped in a little Cafe first for breakfast - the fresh squeezed orange juice is so refreshing .
Wander a couple of streets along and got first sight of the magnificence of the Cathedral and Alcazar. It seemed to glow in the morning sun with the vivid blue sky as a backdrop. There was already people queuing for opening time!
We decided to have a day wandering the streets and having plenty of Cafe stops.
Our first stop was a little Cafe in Alfalfa for a second breakfast, and more coffee. Lots of hams hanging behind the bar - they love their ham and toast with tomato.
Next stop was to wander and look at the Metropol Parason (locals call it the mushrooms). A good piece of modern architecture amongst the old. Really unusual and lift to the top where you can walk around and look at the rooftops of Seville.
All that walking meant another stop in the shade to drink more refreshing orange juice and eat cake. Lovely little square off a Main Street covered in flowers from the balconies and in pots.
We slowly walked (can’t do anything else in 38 degrees) like my mother back along the river to Triana taking in an ice cream stop first.
Had a couple of hours relaxing in the air con and out for our dinner. Triana is mostly locals the tourists tend to stay over the river near the centre so it’s mainly Spanish eating out. We found a restaurant called Playa Blanca which sold the most amazing Tapas. We were there first at 8.30 and the little place quickly became full. This evening we sat out - still 32 at 8.30! Crazy.
The first of many delicious meals of our Spanish tour.
