Pages of the Sea
It's been a fine day, a shower in the morning, with a gentle breeze and some sunny spells. Clear skies tonight.
A lazy Sunday morning at home, and I finally got up and going after breakfast. One brave peerie mouse appeared in the kitchen this morning, not sure where he's come in at but must investigate further. Picked up friend Julie and Keba, met mam and Elise, and headed down to Bigton. Visited Jonny, but him and the bairns were out, but had a cuppa with Ruth. A lazy evening at home by the fire, and a couple of walks with Sammy.
100 years since the end of the Great War, and various poignant events around Shetland. I wanted to attend this one at the beach, Pages of the Sea, where soldiers were being drawn into the sand, in memory of the Shetland men who never returned home. These soldiers will also disappear, fade away when the tide comes in. Me and Elise did our men too, in memory or great uncles who didn't come home. Over 600 folk turned out, that's still not near the amount of men lost from Shetland durning the Great War. The Smith family doing their soldiers, Easter and Jeemie, with Helen and her son Jackson. Lest we forget. This must be a new record for the amount of folk on a Shetland beach in November! Taken at St Ninians tombolo beach, Bigton.
