Late, or Early
You can see this American Goldfinch is showing part of his summer black "cap" which is unusual this time of year. So it begs the question - is he late changing into his winter wardrobe, or is he early for summer? I am a lazy photographer today and took this through the kitchen window during a little snow flurry.
And under the category of fairly useless information...American Goldfinches are the only N. American finch that undergoes a complete molt twice a year. All of our other finches have the same plumage year-round except these little finches which turn bright yellow in the breeding season.
Lots of stretching and some cardio at the gym this morning. The crappy weather meant that there was almost no one there so I pretty much had the treadmills and other cardio equipment to myself. One day from my weekly target of 5 days. Yay, me.
Off to dinner with some friends tonight - looking forward to it.
