Lunch Time and Swan-Upping
Day 3 of the culture binge started as a wash-out, ended up in frostiness, but in between was a delight.
WonderA and I got up slowly and sauntered up to Tate Mod to watch 'The Clock' during lunch hour...many things happen around midday- a lot of lunching obvs, but also a lot of executions, trysts and over fast clocks are woven together by the magic of The Clock...I love it and hope to do the full 24 hours before it leaves us.
Then we shoogled over To Saddlers Wells to catch the matinee of Swan Lake. I really enjoy Mathew Bournes's larrikin attitude to the classics...creating an all-male swan chorus line was a conceptual act of genius back then and becomes evermore intriguing and pertinent in its latest incarnation.
The dancing was powerful and full of quirky style, the costumes and stage craft ditto.
Annie and I were both transfixed by the badboy sweat-glistening swans in their feathery clipped bermudas, sooo much more Swannish than the classic, fluttering versions. We loved it. Hoorah!!
