Mistletoe And Wine

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Woo hoo. Santa had been and filled the stockings. I LOVE Christmas morning with the five of us sitting around in PJs opening presents in that excited, happy bubble. If time froze, I could stay in that moment forever. Murphy had destroyed one of his new toys before we had even finished opening everything. The Mini Princesses loved their presents and declared it was the best Christmas ever.

Mary Doll and Victor came round for Christmas dinner. The food went to plan. The Sekt was so lovely that we didn’t want to switch to any other wine and drank it throughout the meal. Everyone was on good form. We played racing Santa and stinky pig. Mary Doll did check that The Youngest Mini Princess’s ear cuff wasn’t an actual piercing along with a warning to me - “Don’t encourage her. You with ears like a colander!”

We had a few friends round for drinks later in the evening (everyone remembered my drunken invitation on 2nd December). It was great fun. My chuckle muscles ached from laughing at some of the stories Sam Frost shared about Grace, his wife who is genuinely hilarious and very sharp. He explained that she doesn’t react with the usual fight, flight or freeze response in acutely stressful situations. She completely detaches and feels nothing.

When she was in her late teens, the clothing shop Next used to have a separate Jewellery shop in Princes street. Grace worked there and was very excited one morning as the new Next directory had just come out. It was quiet so she was flicking though it when a masked gunman burst in screaming that it was a robbery and that he had a ‘f**king gun.’ The other members of staff bolted to the safe room and the robber came up and shouted at Grace

“DID YOU NOT F**KING HEAR ME? I HAVE A F**KING GUN”

Grace looked up at him...

“I. Am. Looking. At. The. New. Directory”

And continued flicking.

The robber was completely flummoxed and continued with his mission with Grace casually perusing the directory the whole time!

It was a lovely end to Christmas Day. Biker Chick was the last to leave at about 2 and The Prince and I had a last drink together chattering about our day.
