Diary of an Edinburgher

Goodbye birdies

Bike

So glad that normal TV schedules have resumed. Andrew Marr, followed by 'The Big Question' - an audience discussion programme in which sparks fly sometimes, as in this morning's discussion on legalising drugs. Fair keeps me going on the bike!

Becky took Archie out to the park for frisbee fun, but there seemed to quite a few more dogs she didn’t know, some of them possibly (Christmas) puppies, so it's best not to test the theory that Archie doesn’t like puppies - he definitely doesn’t.

Into the shower for him right away, then a blow dry and a wee beard trim. His beard is getting a bit discoloured, perhaps it's his kibble (we discovered it was last time).

We took down the rest of the Christmas decorations today. Then JR went off to Waitrose to get some coffee (pods) and a free paper. I was tempted to get my new saw out and set to on the new pallet. But our neighbours still have our hedge clipper and extension cord. I popped next door to get it, but they weren’t in. Maybe just as well, because when I took the saw out of the box for the first time, it wasn’t immediately obvious how to attach the blade. So I might wait till Friday when Jordan's here...

We finished off two seasons of 'Ozark' (on Netflix) last night. Really enjoyed the series. Crazy characters, many of them vile, but enough of them to care about what happens to them. A story line with more twists and turns than a cheap garden hose. But lots of swearing, not to mention the killings. And a surprise turn by Peter Mullan, a Scottish actor, as a Southern hillbilly/redneck, complete with an impeccable Southern drawl.

Archie was sad to see the decorations come down, so he wanted a last look at the two wee birds that sat on the mantelpiece greenery.
