Common Enchantments

Hope and a full red moon

My friend Danny told me to watch the amaryllis after it bloomed and let the flowers stay on the stalk as long as they would.  He said the base of the flower is where the seed pod will start to form and after a while this will turn brown and pop open with seeds.   He said he has started many amaryllis from seed but I told him he knows how my thumb turns from green to brown in a few seconds.

So I watched this dark red starting to get fat at the bottom of the flower.  I will just leave it and see what happens.  I HOPE I can get the seeds grown and then plant to make more amaryllis.

If I get the seeds I can always take them over to his house and let him get them growing.  Then when it gets ready to bloom, he can give it back to me!!   Guaranteed success!

I sat out in the yard last night from 10:30 until about 12:15 taking photos of the moon.  Yes, it was freezing here but not as bad as some places.  My friend in Raleigh, NC had her Nikon to freeze up.  Mine did not freeze but the battery drained really fast.   I actually used manual settings which was a big chore for me as I had to think really hard on if I did this, what to do with this.   I have not really looked at them except for the first glance.  Some look okay but there is a lot of noise.   I did not think to change the camera from jpeg to raw/jpeg which would probably have helped with editing the noise.   Ugh!    So later today I will sit down to see what I might be able to salvage.      It was an amazing moon!    I did post some photos unedited on my Facebook page.     I will probably make a collage since the photos will be smaller and the noise won't be quite as noticeable as in large!      When it was almost over I remembered I had the remote shutter thingy in my other camera bag.  Could have saved my finger from freezing.    A big learning experience!!     Hoping one day to be able to get some star photos..next big learning experience!    I put a collage in the extras of what I got.  The first photo was the moon as it came up with clouds..that was a worry but they soon drifted away.
