Distant canal bridge in mist
A late breakfast, this morning, with that gentleman of Blip, IntoTheHills. Eschewing our usual rendezvous, we met up at The Hideaway, just by junction 36, which is cracking little place to eat and drink. As usual, it was somewhat sparsely populated - in fact we were the only two covers - and I'm always worried whether they're doing enough business to keep going. I must stop there more often.
After an enjoyable chat and a loose arrangement to - indeed - get into the hills next month, we went outside and paused briefly to look out over the fields and up towards Farleton Knott, which was obscured by the mist. The Kendal-Lancaster canal is blocked by the motorway just north of here - another obstacle to reopening it - but you can make out the next bridge southbound in the top right of the photo.
