Fun at the Zoo
Backblip
Soo hard to choose which photo to blip but decided on the Giant Panda as a way of celebrating the start of Chinese New Year.
We were up early and caught a couple of buses from South Queensferry to get to the Zoo.The bus dropped us outside the Holiday Inn and luckily ,even though it was early, our room was ready so we dropped off our bags had a quick cup of tea and then went to the Zoo which was right next door. As we had tickets for this evenings lantern tour we were able to get in for just £9 each.
Had a great slow wander round taking lots of photos. The pelicans were busy preening, the penguins having great fun as the keepers hosed down their area. The new stripey baby tapir was fast asleep next to his mum while dad paraded around outside.
We found the Pandas inside their enclosure , all cosy with plenty of bamboo that they were tucking into.I was hoping to see the baby Koala but Mum was sleeping and Icould only see her back and a foot dangling down.
We spent quite sometime in with the birds, very relaxing listening to their song and trying to spot them in the branches.
On the way out we were very lucky to see the Red panda down from the treetop. It too was enjoying some bamboo and we had great views.
A short rest at the hotel and then back to see the Chinese Lanterns.Amazing , they look so different when they are lit up, so vibrant and colourful. Some fantastic models from Kelpies to Mammoths. We really enjoyed it.
Finally we had a delicious meal in Cool Jade , a Chinese restaurant just across the zoo.
