Kirkcudbright Harbour

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . . to overflow

High tide in Kirkcudbright was at 12.50pm today - and it was the highest tide of the year.

The water rose a massive 8 metres between low tide at around 7.00am and filled up every available nook and cranny until the harbour was full. Then it overflowed on to the quayside leaving the fishing trawlers tied up there marooned out of reach.  But it wasn't long before the tide turned - and the water slipped away again as fast as it had appeared.

I wonder if it's all something to do with that enormous full moon we've been seeing recently . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ?
