2019 Saturday — Grandfathers Clock
Mr. Fun’s grandpa built this clock cabinet approximately 100 years ago in 1917 when they lived in Wisconsin. He could not afford the clock works and the story is told that grandma wet-nursed a baby for a wealthy couple when the mother could not produce milk and the baby’s wealthy father then purchased two identical clock works from Germany and gave this one as a “thank you” since grandma refused to be paid for wet-nursing that baby.
The Westminster chimes sounds at the top of the hour and every 15 minutes a portion of it plays. I love the story of this wooden clock.
