Top Man!
The white haired geriatric old tart was brought to the children of Mount Hawke Academy this morning. The flying aces (Their symbol is the ace of clubs) of 771 Sqn the Search & Rescue lads from Culdrose did their wonderful job again.
A couple of neighbours voiced doubts about the cost to the public purse. I did not attempt to conceal my contempt for their attitude.
"The lads are using their training flying hours which they accumulate to do this for the children. There are 100 children over there with equally excited teachers, they will never ever forget this moment. Neither will the crew. They pay as much taxes if not more than you or I so they can do what they like."
Santa was completely brilliant, joining a bunch of the older children on top of an outside table to do a bit of Gangnam dancing as the elf gave out pressies. The cheering from the children was amazing. One little lad was so ecstatic he wrapped his arms around himself and was just twirling.
The teachers kept a very close eye on me as I poked my camera around. After the cab departed I waved over a lady who had been using an iPad to photograph the event. I introduced myself, gave her my address and will drop in a memory stick of the best images tomorrow, turns out she is the school secretary. :-))
So, no children in this image, or on my Flickr account. I can assure you there were some very very happy little people there today, they had all made paper antlers and most wore them going home. If only life could be this good all the time.
In other news.....
I was taken to my favourite shop in Wadebridge today to collect my new wellies. French, leather lined with zips etc. Wunnnerful! As I turned around from the desk one of my favourite people was standing behind me, the leader of the Fishermen's Friends. Brilliant chap, huge walrus moustache, polite, relaxed dealt with one of his adoring fans and never asked for my autograph. His bass voice really grounds their music, he apparently has a two octave range. We discussed the cancellation of a few of their normal Friday night gigs due to safety concerns ie rising tides, numbers etc. They are now considering a party for 1000 as a fish BBQ and performance evening. We will be going! Mrs Booty made me look a complete tit by informing the shop that I cook to their music. Revenge will be mine! Port Isaac's Fishermen's Friends.
