No figures
Just plane squares. Why? Well, me and making figures doesn't go well together. I think it's the use of a rolling pin and the process of flattening the dough that's the problem. The dough always sticks to the rolling pin and breaks...my temper flares, as it has since I was a kid - mum thinks that was really funny, and it's NOT a pretty view!! I just can't get it right!! So imagine my happiness when I found a recipe for cut french gingerbread. Just make the dough, make it into a roll and then flatten the sides to a cube-like shape, wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator during the night. In the morning, just unwrap it and slice it in thin slices, bake them and voilá! My kind of gingerbread! :)
