Rice terraces
Another cool day with occasion light rain. Left at 8 and it was a 9 hour drive to Yuanyang county. Stopped at ourdriver’s choice of a place to have some lunch, almost a roadside shed, but she cooked nice food. A blackened fish, greens, tofu plus meaty dishes and a flat bread made from lotus roots. All very greasy! This area likes to smother everything in sesame oil. (One day we got a can of it each to add to our food!). When we reached the rice terraces they were very crowded with Chinese, as this is a top tourist attraction fir them, all pushing and shoving.
Most famous terraces in China, on southern slopes of Ailao mountain., 28,000 acres of terraces. Viewed this area then to another for an unspectacular sunset. The close-ups were lovely though they looked liked graphic designs in black and white.
