Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Almost there...

Another fun day! We now have all bathroom lights working, fan working, radiator working, underfloor heating hooked up but can’t use it yet - cement needs to bed in. I must say, the down lights are very cool.

Andrew came back to fix the exhaust hole outside, and very tidy job he did too. Some people just slap cement into the hole in the old stones. No - Andrew kept the stone cut out from the new hole and did a super job.

Actually, he spent ages playing with Archie out the back. And he foolishly left his gloves down and Archie ran off with them. They're great pals. In fact, once he'd gone, he came back in because he forgot to say cheerio to Archie! We certainly chose the right contractor.

Before Jordan came, Archie and I sat out on the front bench in the sun, in a garden devoid of rubble! What a treat! Jordan was impressed with the progress.

We re-hung the paintings in the kitchen - that feels better! JR managed to go for her double fitness session at the gym - she hasn’t been able to go this week and was getting frantic. Then she rushed off to get socket things and picture hooks (all of ours ‘got lost’). She had to buy a packet of 100 (so if you need any, let me know). Now she is cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Harry Hoover is red hot. I've done some painting and dusting. The black protection stuff in the hall has been removed, so we're gradually getting back to normal.

Watching the Brexit shamozzle. Unbelievable.

Trying out the shower tonight. Woohoo!!
