Certainly Spring
Overcast and occasionally wet - the first day of the cricket season. I still went up to Calke Abbey for a walk, and to see how the bulbs were going on. Their tulips are behind mine but you could tell the colours are going to be amazing.
Lovely fritillaries again near the bee hives.
Early bluebells near the Ice House (Extra)
They’ve finished excavating the tunnels to the heating system and you can now go in on a little tour. The heating was to keep the pineapple plants alive in the 18th Century (hardly surprising when you hear that each pineapple was worth the equivalent of £5000. They hired them out as table decorations)
They’ve put the lambs out in part of the walled garden. I watched them for ages. This little love was just relaxing when mum arrived, and kicked her because she wanted her to feed.....
Have a lovely weekend, my Blip friends....
