2012 — Our Monday Morning Window
Without editing the poles and wires into nothingness, this is our view of Morro Rock and just to the left of the shoreline is the power plant. We're on California's Central Coast, 4 miles north of the unincorporated community of Cayucos looking toward the community of Morro Bay. Cayucos has 3,000 people and Morro Bay has 10,000.
Watching as the morning sunlight comes over the eastern hills to illuminate the coastline is a wonder. Some mornings the clouds blush pink and some mornings the light makes the white foam on the tips of the waves sparkle. Some mornings there's just a flannel blanket of gray. All of it is entertaining.
A quick and short getaway to California's Central Coast soothes our lives, especially for me after an intense semester of teaching community college students, who for the most part don't know what it means to be students, have not much appreciation of the freedom they have in the U.S. to receive an education, and mostly haven't decided what they want to do with the rest of their lives; therefore, another dose of classroom moments does not thrill them.
So the grit of the sand, the rhythm of the waves, and the mist of foam brings welcomed refreshment and relaxation to this couple and our three pups.
We'll be headed back into Southern California's hurried hustle tomorrow, but for today we're going to soak in the solitude of this wonderful place.
Good night from California's Central Coast.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, and Chloe, Mitzi, and Max), aka Carol
