Arundel Tulip Festival

Chrissy and I went to the tulip festival at Arundel Castle today, and we couldn't have asked for better weather being sunny and 23 degrees.  We were supposed to go last year, but unfortunately there had been a few days of storms and it wiped out all but 25% of the tulips, so we didn't go.

We got there just after 10am when it opened so it wasn't too busy and we were able to wander around and take photos without too many people getting in the way.  There were lots of displays with so many different colours and varieties of tulips, and the smell was amazing!

We spent a good 3 hours wandering through the gardens, but on this occasion we didn't pay to go inside the castle, I've done that before and we wouldn't have had enough time to see it all as it's an hours' drive each way and I was conscious of getting back for the boys.

Unfortunately I had a bit of an accident with my cameras, we went to use the toilet before leaving and there was a big window sill so I put my bag on the window sill rather than the floor, but didn't zip it up as I thought it would be ok.  I'd put the bag quite a distance from the edge of the sill, but the contents must have settled when I put it down and it tipped over, slid off the sill and both cameras fell out of the bag and onto the stone floor!  I felt sick with worry as one body had my big zoom lens on it and the other had my 14mm -140mm on, however I've been very lucky.  The only damage appears to be a slight crack on the screen, together with a small split in the rubber around the view finder of one of the bodies,  and the front of other had come slightly away from top of the camera.

I've ordered a screen protector, slightly late in the day you might say, but it'll stop the crack getting any worse, and Alan managed to clip the front of the camera back in place.  We've checked the lenses and they both seem to be ok - fingers crossed!  Anyway, the lesson learned is to always make sure the cameras are safely in the bag, it's zipped up and placed on the floor not at a height!

Tonight I've been to Zumba, it was a different instructor I've never seen before as Frederico is on holiday, but he was very nice and I enjoyed the class.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good Easter and the sun shines.  We're going to be busy painting the fences and decking, but it's the perfect weekend for it.
