Common Crane

Sunny spells this morning, and a cloudy afternoon.  Cloudy this evening  and a spot of rain.  It still remains windy.

I was working in the museum today.  Mid morning I headed down to the Croft House Museum, and given Linda N a tour of the building and how to setup for the day, and a few pointers about the main artefacts.  Popped by mam's and fed Puss, on the way back.  Headed to the peat hill after tea.  Some more casting done, but also a tidy up of the bank.  I raised some peats to make it look better.  Walkies with Sammy, and then off to work in the pub.

We left the Croft House, and took a lunchtime detour on the way back to work.  We'd seen photos of a common crane online, and we for a look.  A spot of luck, we found it instantly.  I've never seen one in Shetland before, so it was a treat, but too far for the camera.  I crept up slowly, but when wearing an orange jacket, it quickly flew away.  Here she is, taking off from the south beach at the Loch of Spiggie, Dunrossness.
