Two headlands
This morning we went on a walking tour of the city led by a young man who clearly loves Sydney and enjoyed dramatising episodes of its history as he presented his spiel. We then grabbed lunch as we walked round the harbour along the Circular Quay. It is dotted with plaques set into the pavement that form the Writers' Way, celebrating authors with a link to the city, such as Robert Louis Stevenson "... there is material for a dozen buccaneering stories to be picked up in the hotels at Circular Quay."
We then met up with my school chum and caught a ferry across to Watson Bay. After a coffee we continued on foot around the South Head Walk, with fabulous views of the sea and views of the city from a different angle. (Walked over 18,000 steps, so my FitBit is proud of us!) Also spotted two new birds: a Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) and Fairy Wrens (possibly the variegated Malurus lamberti but my Field Guide shows many varieties).
So hard to choose one of oodles of photos for my chief blip, but I liked these two headlands in the evening light. And I've added the birds as an Extra.
My friend then drove us a couple of miles further to see Bondi Beach and then over to theirs for a convivial evening of delicious home-cooking and conversation. Good to meet her other half at last, too - and he refrained from drinking to drive us 'home' to our hotel. What kind people they are!
