Diary of an Edinburgher

Beach!

After JR's gym session, we popped to Porty Beach, as the day was going to be a corker!

The sea was calm, people were swimming along the beach (in wet suits), so it must have been lovely - like a very big swimming pool. The beach was just beginning to get busy - lots of grandparents and toddlers building sandcastles, we noticed. Fife is just across the Forth, but not visible today - heat haze!

But we were on a mission. We were searching for the original Brossbagel shop in town, having very much enjoyed the one we tried in the city. And this one was even better - dog friendly, with a wee sofa (the city one was very narrow with a few high chairs). We had the same as the ones we last time. But they really are quite difficult to eat with decorum...

We walked back along the beach (6,030 steps), and by this time it was very busy. Lots of tattoo-ed peely wally bodies on show. Not so nice, thanks.

But we had a very good coffee at our favourite caravan. We'd stopped there on arrival to pick up a liver muffin for Archie. While we were sitting there, some of the teachers from JR's former school came down to eat their lunch in the sun, so that was a bonus. It's lovely being retired, especially when we waved them off back to work.

I read my book in the back garden in the afternoon. Barbecue being fired up as we speak. I wonder if the neighbours will be toasting humungous marshmallows again tonight...

EDIT - They were!
