Diary of an Edinburgher

Three birds

We have a plan to put up a frieze in the sitting room. Most many of the Edinburgh flats have one, but we do not. Easy enough to install. We set off to visit a plastering company, and eventually found it, but not before Archie was sick. We'd been going round and round and over those annoying 'sleeping policemen'. I think we'll order a frieze online to fit the depth we need, and get this company to install it.

We took Archie across town with us because it was near Harrison Park, where he regularly goes with two of his walkers. And so he and JR had a run in the park, then walked back along the canal in the sunshine, while I drove home.

We then met up at a local cafe which is near to an electrical shop. Kill two birds with one stone. In fact, three birds, because I knew that on Thursdays, a friend and ex-colleague always works in the (family) shop.

And there she was - haven’t seen her for ages - and made arrangements for her to come for a social visit, and her brother-in-law (the electrician) for a working visit. Then went next door for a very nice coffee and shared a delicious falafel wrap with 'peanut pesto'.

Archie was very tired after walking along the canal in the heat, and kept lying down when he got to the grass and the shade. He and I had a snooze on the sofa in the afternoon.

Then we had a barbecue. Four in a row! Is this a record?

PS Neighbours weren’t bbq-ing tonight.
So NO toasted marshmallows...
