cuckoo ..... cuckoo

Probably the most distinctive bird call known to most people and yet so rarely heard in the countryside  these days.

I was up as planned very early to meet up in search of the elusive cuckoo. A walk through a reed bed and fields then into a pop up hide, wait and hope. Success, this is a very big tick in one of my boxes. I really wanted to see and photograph this iconic bird.

Tomorrow I'm booked in a kingfisher hide so looking for more wildlife fun even if the sitting and waiting doesn't seem that exciting.

Good watching Derby win a playoff against Leeds against all the odds, most of my family are Rams fans.
