Christmas dinner...
...or rather, Christmas Eve breakfast. Not mine (I'm a vegetarian, I wouldn't eat an insect!) but this praying mantis baby (only about 2.5cm) was certainly enjoying it's fly and managed to dispatch it in a surprisingly short time (either that or it dropped it when I wasn't looking).
The temperature finally dropped around midday, when the cool change arrived - that is, when the wind changed from blowing from the North (hot and dry from the centre of Australia) to the South (cold and straight off the Antarctic). According to the weather statisticians, last night was the hottest December night ever recorded, hovering round 30 degrees. Didn't sleep very well... It's amazing how many weather records are being broken all the time, according to the paper. Gosh, it was the hottest day in two years etc etc... wowee... (sometimes there just isn't much news).
It's MY dinner!
Also, if anyone is interested in beetles, there is a quite nice Flower Chafer beetle, which is a gold coloured beetle with spots, that was having a whale of a time on my buddleia, in my blip folio.
