Piñata Factory

Christmas Eve found us at piñata headquarters on the Plaza Kioto. According to what I have read, there are 47 vendors of piñatas on the traffic circle, an amazing collection of shapes and colors. Try as I might I have been unable to get a good shot of this tableau. I did, however, like this shot, junky as it is, of one of the factories. A dozen or so of these tarp-lined, dirt-floored stalls are set up along the canal wall. The vendors work all day, in the heat, and night, in the dark, adding colored paper to the papermaché bases. They will be making and selling until the sixth of January, then all will be cleaned up until next December.
