Pig?!

So, while I was trying to find out a bit more about the Roman milestone at Middleton, I read that there was another one nearby, too, allegedly in a nearby hamlet that goes by the odd name of Burrow-with-Burrow. I tried to find out more and realised just how much information gets duplicated across the web. An original entry contains the sentence 'Roman pavements, altars, inscriptions, urns, and coins have been found here; and a Roman milestone is on the road.' Pop that into Google and you'll see what I mean.

Anyway, eventually I found what appeared to be a pretty precise description of where I might find this milestone and I so I took a detour on my way down to see the Minx, this evening. All, there was no sign of it. I walked up and down the lane, peering about but could see no sign of it.

Looking through the trees, though, I was momentarily startled to see what appeared to be a large pig. It was impossible to get a single, clear view of it but you can see the tail and most of the body including the neck and ears in the photo.

In the end, I gave up but only for today!
