Heading Home
We were very organised again this morning and were all packed and the apartment was tidy ready for Susanna (the owner) coming to check us out. She's a really lovely lady and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her and her apartment, and interestingly it turns out that she has another in Nice, so if and when I go back with Alan, we'll probably give that one a try.
Our journey back was very smooth - the taxi turned up on time, got to the airport and dropped the bags off and waited for mum's assistance. I really can't fault the help both here in the UK and in France, it's been fantastic. A lady appeared with a wheelchair, whisked us through security and deposited us at Starbucks until it was time to board the plane. Another girl came to get us, took us to passport control, bypassing the queue again, and then when we got to the gate, we jumped the queue again. She then took us to our own private mini bus and drove us to the plane and we were first on board - there's a new meaning to Speedy Boarding! Interestingly, as we were chatting she told us that she used to be cabin crew, but now she was doing her pilot training in Chicago, and she's almost qualified, but it will take her a further 6 months to get her European licence. She said she'd like to fly for Easyjet as they're a good company to work for, but also they have a hub in Nice which is where she lives, so it would be ideal. We wished her well and said that you never know, but she may be flying us somewhere one day.
We had a fantastic flight, and the sky over France was so clear that we could see snow on the tops of the mountains, lakes and clouds floating in the valleys, and despite being slightly delayed taking off, we landed on time. We were met off the plane and taken to the buggy which then took us through passport control and baggage reclaim and then into arrivals where Alan met us.
Once home, we unpacked and then went to The Black Horse in Rottingdean for a Sunday roast which was lovely. Then it was back home to re-pack! Mum heads home in the morning and Alan and I fly to Prague tomorrow afternoon, so I'm only back in the UK for 24 hours!
Apologies once again for the lack of comments, but hopefully I'll get chance to catch up while I'm in Prague as I'll have a lot of time to kill while Alan's in his meeting.
Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there, and hugs to anyone like me whose dads are no longer with us x
