to Swarm

It is the time in the Beekeeping calendar for bees to swarm. This swarm was in a tree right next to my apiary.  One's first reaction is that it might be a swarm from one of my hives.  However an inspection of the bees today has raised a doubt about that.

So here you see Mary, a beekeeping (and Pilates) friend of mine collecting the swarm in her home made skep.

The bees will then be allowed time to settle in and can then very easily be wrapped in the sheet and taken to their new hive.
