Strawberry Fayre

It’s the season for strawberries and cream, and many of the sporting cum social highlights are synonymous with the delicacy. Not to mention the demand for them on weekly shopping lists at supermarkets and shops focussing on the fruit.
So it’s not surprising that in this part of the south coast, strawberry growing assumes top priority. Much farmland is taken up with poly tunnels like this producing acres of strawberries.
They reckon something like 27,000 kilos of strawberries will be consumed during Wimbledon tennis. On a much lesser scale our taste for them ensures a single punnet from the supermarket will not stretch more than two or three days.
