My life in blips

Clockwork Forest, Grizedale Forest

It was looking like another day of low cloud so we headed off to a place in the Lake District we had talked about many times, but never got round to visiting.  I was particularly keen to see the environmental sculptures which are installed around Grizedale Forest.  This is an interactive sculpture; turn the giant key and light, gentle music begins to play.

As in most extensive forests, there are many different coloured paths to follow so we chose one which would give the dogs a good walk and access to a tarn for an obligatory swim!

I loved spotting the sculptures and would be keen to go back to find some others.  The drive to the forest (now we know where we missed the turning to the road) is not one for the feint hearted as the roads are very narrow with little passing places and high hedges.

On the way back to Ambleside, we stopped in at Hawkshead for a quick wander and an ice cream. We met up with Killerqueen and SD for fish and chips in Rothy Park, as it had turned into a beautiful sunny evening. They were heading back north from their holiday in Wales.
