Transitions

Well, it's almost 2013, and in just a few hours people will be acting as if something wonderful has happened. When you think about it, it's just a date on an arbitrary calendar. Different cultures have, or had, different calendars, and for each of them the new year would begin on a different day. To me, the solstice is more worthy of celebration.

My blip is a different kind of transition. In our house, the walls have rounded corners. This is a bit tricky when it's time to paint, and you want different colors on adjacent walls, as we have here at the entrance to the remodeled bathroom.

First we had to decide where to make the change -- the bedroom side, the bathroom side, or in the middle of the curve. We chose the bathroom side.

The other tricky bit is actually doing it -- obviously a job for masking tape, but it's hard to get a good seal on textured walls. I'd read about a new brand called FrogTape which has a unique feature designed to solve this problem. Worked like a charm.
